Getting Access to the Images
Most of the collections within TCIA are open to all registered users. Access to some collections is limited to designated users in special circumstances. This allows The Cancer Imaging Archive to:
- Support data collection for private or internal projects
- Protect data while investigators are publishing results
- Limit access to just those individuals directly involved in a project
Click here to begin the registration process.
If you have a user account you can click here to log in the archive. Information about the scientific value of each of our collections can be found on the wiki. The Cancer Imaging Archive User's Guide provides detailed information on the many features available in the archive. If you'd like to speak with a member of our support team additional help is available from the TCIA Helpdesk.
Using the TCIA programmatic Interface
TCIA now also offers an Application Programming Interface (API) for all public image collections. This programmatic interface allows client applications such as image analysis and data mining software to directly access TCIA collections. The API complements the existing web interface but eliminates the need for users to visit the TCIA web pages to select and download images then upload them into their viewing and analysis applications. The TCIA Programmatic Interface is based on a middleware platform called Project Bindaas, developed by Emory University and uses REST web service technologies. For more information on the new TCIA API please refer to the Programmatic Interface Usage Guide.
