Hosting the Cancer Imaging Program's Image Collections
The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) is a National Biomedical Imaging Archive (NBIA) software instance hosted by Washington University in Saint Louis. In December, 2010, the National Cancer Institute through SAIC-Fredrick, contracted with Washington University to establish a high-availability, cluster based hosting environment using the NBIA software to collect and curate current and future image collections. This new archive will join other NBIA instances on the caGRID and Internet to provide high quality, high value image collections to cancer researchers around the world.

The Washington University team supporting The Cancer Imaging Archive consists of faculty and staff of the Electronic Radiology Laboratory (ERL), a research lab within the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), and the MIR Support Center. MIR is the Radiology Department of the School of Medicine at Washington University in Saint Louis.
