Hosting the Cancer Imaging Program’s Image Collections

The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) was created and originally hosted by Washington University in Saint Louis.  In December, 2010, the National Cancer Institute through the Fredrick National Laboratory, contracted with Washington University to establish a high-availability, cluster based hosting environment to collect and curate current and future image collections. In October 2015 Dr. Prior and the core TCIA team relocated from the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University to the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.  A new hosting environment for TCIA was created at UAMS and all software, processes and data was moved from St. Louis to Little Rock during the month of October, 2015.  The archive continues provides high quality, high value image collections to cancer researchers around the world.
